Firm's E-Discovery Technology Recognized as Most Innovative

Monarch Beach, CA, September 12, 2012 -WilmerHale today announced that it was recognized by this year's InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation's most innovative users of business technology. The law firm broke onto the list for the first time this year, being recognized for its e-discovery and document review technology, known as WilmerHale Discovery Solutions (WHDS). The annual list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the InformationWeek 500 Conference which took place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, CA.

"One of the most arduous and expensive tasks in litigation or a regulatory investigation is providing the adversary with all of the relevant discovery. A great deal of thought and research has gone into developing our WHDS practice so that it provides a combination of advanced technology, high quality in-house document review and competitive pricing to better serve our client's discovery needs," said WilmerHale Managing Director of WHDS Steve Berrent. "We are reshaping the relationship between law and technology and developing more efficient ways to leverage electronic information in a cost effective matter. It's an honor to be included on this most prestigious list in the business technology industry."

Through WHDS, the firm's clients benefit from its ability to drive down the cost of e-discovery and document review; improve the predictability of those costs; and increase the efficiency and speed of document review. The work for WHDS is handled primarily out of the firm's business services center at the Miami Valley Research Park in Dayton, Ohio. WilmerHale has partnered with Recommind, a leader in predictive information management and analysis software, to design technology that fulfills the client's needs and includes predictive coding. In addition, WilmerHale's technology team has developed their own set of technologies that allow the firm's professional staff to spend more time focusing on client matters and less time on administrative processes. The firm has seen substantial cost savings over traditional methods of document review, while at the same time yielding results that they believe exceed those attainable using traditional methods.

"The InformationWeek 500 has recognized the most innovative users of business technology for 24 years, and this year's innovations were particularly impressive," said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. "What the editors looked for are unconventional approaches-new technologies, new models, new ways of grabbing business opportunities and solving complex business problems with IT." InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of America's best-known companies. Past overall winners include PACCAR Inc., The Vanguard Group, CME Group, National Semiconductor, Con-Way, and Principal Financial Group. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
